We had quite a day yesterday
After church we went over to Tonys house for lunch. Doug Martin my long time friend was also in CA and I had invited him over. As it turns out Doug had taught Tony's father him English in the 70's in Indonisa as a student missionary.
After lunch and visiting we left about 4PM for Santa Monica Beach. It was about an hours drive away. We walked the beach and peir. About sundow we headed to Hollywood Boulvard. We arrived and found a parking spot on the 6th floor underground parking lot. We walked around the walk of stars it looked like to me they gave everbody one. 10pm and everybody wanted pizza. I had a fish taco from Baja Fresh it was quite good with lots of fresh avacado and l\pepers. Everyone else had pizza at CA Pizza Kitchen.
We started the 65 mile journey home abound 11:30. As soon as we got on the first freeway we came to a stop slow for about 20 minutes. Turns out that was no bad. Later the 5 lane freeway we were on went from 6 lanes to 1 becasuebof construction. Wewent 3.6 miles in 50 minutes. We arrived at the hotel at 1:50AM.

After leaving Antelope Island State Park we were starved. We were
tring to decide if Marie Callrndar's would be like going to Denny's.
We stopped in anyway. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.
I ordered the turkey pot pie. It came out looking very good. It was
pipping hot, infact it never cooled off enough to eat. I was
disappointed with the small amount vegetables that were included in
the pie. The creamy sauce was very good, it tasted like celery soup. I
though 11.79 was a bit high for what I got.
Later in the day I got a really bad case of indegestion not sure what
was in there but I was feeling it all night long.

Grits and Shrimp
This morning inspired by the latest issue of Gourmet January 2008, all about southern cooking. I fixed Creamy Stone-Ground Grits and Low Country Breakfast Shrimp (page 77). I, of course, replaced the Shrimp with tomatoes.
The grits are made with half water, half milk, and some butter. Instead of stone ground grits I use “Bob’s Red Mill Corn Grits” they are located in the organic section of your grocery store. For the Low Country Breakfast Shrimp I substituted 3 Roma tomatoes for the shrimp.
The dish turned out spectacularly. I have always wanted to go to the Hominy Grill in Charleston SC, but I don’t eat shrimp which would be a problem. This was a perfect substitute.
Thanks Gourmet for the inspiration!
